The road out of Kalpa ends here — the last motorable ground before footpaths take over, and the widest unobstructed face of the Kinner Kailash range in the valley.
Overview
Roghi Village is one of the most authentic and visually rewarding hamlets in the Kinnaur district, set against some of the finest unobstructed views of the sacred Kinner Kailash range. Perched at roughly 2,700 metres just beyond Kalpa, it is defined by ancient wooden houses, terraced orchards and dramatic mountain vistas that reflect the enduring rhythms of rural Kinnauri life.
What sets Roghi apart is not elevation alone, but the combination of its remote, road-ending location, a centuries-old temple dedicated to a local deity, and a mountain road that has itself become a point of fascination for travellers. Beyond Roghi, only footpaths continue into the hills — giving the village a genuine sense of sitting at the edge of the inhabited world.

Best Time to Visit
May to October is the most favourable window for the wider Kalpa–Kinnaur region, with mild weather and reliable road access for clear views of the range. Summer (April–June) brings pleasant temperatures and blooming orchards; the monsoon (July–August) carries occasional landslide risk on mountain roads. Winter (October–March) is cold and often snow-touched, suited to quieter visits — the Kinnaur highway itself remains open year-round as an all-weather road.
Connectivity
Kinnaur has no rail or air connectivity of its own. The practical route is by road from Shimla — Himachal Roadways bus or private vehicle — with the journey typically spanning most of a day given the winding mountain terrain.
Roghi sits about 13km beyond Reckong Peo, the district headquarters, and just 5–10 minutes past Kalpa by local taxi or on foot. As the road ends at Roghi itself, most visitors base themselves in Kalpa, which offers a range of guesthouses and hotels serving as a hub for the wider Kinner Kailash viewpoints.
